Head For the Hills This Summer

Walkers of all ages are being encouraged to Head for the Hills this summer and discover the epic beauty on our doorstep as part of the Sperrins and Killeter Walking Festival.

Funded through Axis 3 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013 which is administered locally by ARC north west and Strabane District Council, the festival will be held in the Sperrins from 19th -20th  July and in Killeter from 9th -10th  August 2014.

A spokesperson said ‘'We are delighted to welcome the launch of the Sperrins and Killeter Walking Festival as part of World Environment Day 2014. We have a packed programme of walks, hikes and fun days available for walkers of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re looking to get active, enjoy a family day out, unlock the hidden gems of the region or even raise money for your favourite charity, the festival provides the perfect opportunity to get outside and explore the gems on our doorstep."

Walks are available at a variety of levels including easy strolls perfect for families and budding nature photographers, moderate treks, challenging hill walks and extreme hikes across some of the most dazzling landscapes in the country. Visitors can learn more about gold panning, mountain skills and navigation as well as take part in a range of family fun events.
